Learn how to be a superhero in, Camilla Super Helper. When Camilla thinks about being a superhero, she thinks about being fast or strong, but when her bee friend needs help, Camilla learns that you can be a superhero in many different and special ways.
This is a story about conservation and helping plant flowers and plants for the bees. The Julie Dillemuth story maps out how a group of animal friends listen to the bees needs, adapt their plans, and find ways to plant as many flowers in the best places as they can. And because the bees are no longer tired having to fly all day to find the flowers, they have time for friends. And this is a sweet story. It is also practical. Many environmental books have “grand plans” but this is as simple as planting some flowers. Of course, there is a little more to it and the author afterwards helps explain that as well.
Laura Wood illustrates this story with some cartoon like, but not comical/cartoony images. Things are colorful but not overwhelming, and the details are busy without being crowded. There are at least two other books by Dillemuth and Wood, Camilla, Cartographer and Camilla and the Big Change, but this is a stand-alone story. Though I am assuming it would be helpful to have read them first, to be introduced to Camilla and her friends.
Probably best for the slightly older listening crowd (at least five and up), and good for both a read aloud and a one-on-one reading time.
