Gilbert the Goblin is convinced yetis are not nearly as mysterious as they seem, and sets off to find one to prove once and for all that Goblins are just as cool and mysterious as the elusive yeti. (Directly stolen, I mean borrowed, from the publisher description).
And you get a funny journey when Gilbert tries to do this in Yetis Are the Worst! by Alex Willan. In the same pattern as their Unicorns Are the Worst and Dragons Are the Worst, your child will enjoy the hidden surprises on the pages, the images that are bold, sweet, and soft. And the frustrations of our goblin friend. The theme of this (and other picture books) is simple enough and can be likened to a sibling who is less than impressed with a newcomer to the fold, or an older one they are behind.
All ages can enjoy the book, but it is probably best for at least four or five up to eight or nine. The older crowd can enjoy some solo reading (some with help) and the listeners can wonder what will happen next as you get cozy with them.
This is a feel-good book that you will love, or be, “Well, that is nice but not my cup of tea.” It is a book that of you know the other titles, then you will want to add this to your collection. It might be about “spooky” yetis, but trust me, this is anything but spooky and is not a seasonal book. Will also work well in a story-time setting.
