These two books have nothing in common except they are both modern stories, with a classic feel and are sweetly presented. Still, I will put them in one review as I really am unable to write a 250 worded review for either one of them solo.
Lost and Found by Kate Banks and illustrations by Galia Bernstein is an adorable story that shows how love comes in many forms, but you always know it when you see it. It does not matter that you might be an otter who has never seen a swing, or a deer who has never seen a toy doll, but you know what kindness, family and love is just by seeing it, no matter how it is presented. The sweet, bright, and fun illustrations compliment this great bedtime, or anytime, read. All ages can appreciate this story, like I appreciate the squirrel.
And when I first looked at the cover of Me and Ms. Too, I was not sure what to expect. Maybe a teacher who was a little “tough” by making the main character mind in class and/or do their work and then they learn they like what was expected. Or maybe a new neighbor who at first, our gal pal of the cover thought was a witch. Instead, this book by Laura Ruby is a cute story about a blended family and how “too” is not always a bad thing. Bright illustrations by Thi Hanh Dung Hot that compliment simple, but complete text.
While Lost and Found is more of an anybody story, Me and Ms. Too is a more specifically aimed audience. Still, the idea of change is universal and could fit almost any situation.
