I love Hamilton. My kids love Hamilton but refuse to watch the duels as they are too scary (I’m pretty happy with that actually). I’m not quite obsessed with it but I did listen to the soundtrack for like three weeks straight after watching it. I put this book on hold and had to wait a few months for it as I suppose everyone else did the same thing after the movie came out. This book is basically a giant magazine article, read by Mariska Hargitay, that talks about every person involved with the production with some fun anecdotes thrown in. The best part of the book is that it includes the entire musical book with liner notes by Lin Manuel Miranda. Every single detail of this play was intentional. Every bar, every lyric, every light, every step and I think it shows in its quality. I don’t know that I ever come across something so hyped that still managed to exceed expectations. As a mild theater nerd and history major, this is extremely my jam. Also, I did not come up with Hamil-tome. I saw Lin-Manuel tweet it a long time ago and always found it funny. If you love Hamilton, this is a must read. If you were indifferent or didn’t like, it’s probably not for you.
Ahh yes, the Hamil-tome
