I did debate if I should include this book collection in my Cannonball count, as I have already reviewed the first six books. But when I realized that there is an interesting piece of information you can find in the second six books, and this collection is less expensive, I knew I had to include this review.
Several of us are familiar with Moon Girl and the Devil Dinosaur series. In the Beginning allows for the fan to binge on this crazy series like crazy. Moon Girl’s first adventure (learning of Devil Dinosaur and the surprise ending) is here. And the next six books continuing the adventure with a new villain and a new superhero friend. Marvel brings into play old and new favorites to make Moon Girl a fresh story for today. And the beginner reader to the graphic novel (or in this case, the more comic format) can start a graphic novel tale. Amy Reeder and Brandon Montclare’s story is fun and sassy.
And Natcacha Bustos’s illustrations equally fun. The new twist to our heroine and dinosaur hero is a little freaky and it is not Friday. This causes some major upsets and a lot of laughs. The colors explode off the page, making everything as busy and active as the action itself. It pairs perfectly with the story.
Collects editions 1 to 12 with each section being its own story arch. Yet, you should start with the first six as the second arch starts where the first arch ends. Having some Marvel Universe knowledge also helps, but not necessarily needed.
