I found out about this book from one of my close friends last year but I completely forgot about it until recently. I found it in a Barnes and Nobles and thought that the cover looked really cool and that I heard good things about it previously. When I found it I asked my mom to put it on my Christmas wishlist and I was so happy when my grandparents gave me it for Christmas. There are a total of 13 books in the series and I intend to read all of them throughout the next few months.
High school student Light Yagami is an ace student who is bored out of his mind. But, his whole world shifts when he finds a supernatural notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any name written in the journal will die so long as he is thinking of their face while writing down their name. After figuring out how the notebook works Light vows to rid the world of evil using his newfound power. Will Light Yagami be captured or will he rule a perfect, crime-free world?
Death Note is a fantastic book that deals with right and wrong as well as the control of other people fates. It contains many surprising plot twists and spectacular art. The book is mostly black and white with a few pages of color. The outside edges are black to go with an amazing black and white cover. Because this book is a manga you must read it from right to left for the story to make sense, do not worry if you’ve never read like that before, it doesn’t take very long before you start naturally reading that way. Finally, Death Note is not only manga but, there is a corresponding anime series to go with the books.
