No Exit by Taylor Adams

No Exit by Taylor Adams

I honestly have nothing to say outside of if you want to follow a thriller that has the main lead do stupid things the whole book, this is the book for you. “No Exit” follows college student, Darby Thorne who is traveling home to see her mother and sister during a snowstorm that turns into a full fledged blizzard. Darby eventually can’t see and stops at a rest stop. While there, she meets 4 other people. Stepping outside to see if she can get a […]

Beware the Sigma Males

The Last Word by Taylor Adams

March 23, 2024 by Melina 2 Comments

CW: Suicidal ideation, it’s lightly alluded to in the beginning and then addressed later in the book. There are a few others that I can’t tell you because they are massive book spoilers. If you have specifics, I’d google them first before reading the book. Oh man, I wish I could’ve ended up loving this book, I was in love with it at first…here’s the premise.  A woman is housesitting at a fairly isolated beach house after a traumatic car accident that was fatal, and also […]

Constructive Criticism

The Last Word by Taylor Adams

September 3, 2023 by Pooja Leave a Comment

CBR 15 Bingo – You Are Here: The setting is incredibly self-contained, with nearly all of the action taking place in the same isolated house on a beach. After Emma leaves a negative review on a self-published book, she discovers that some authors take such things very, very personally. I picked up this book because it amused me that someone would take the unfortunately true tales of authors coming after readers who’ve left negative reviews on their books (generally online, but at least in one case physically) and write […]

WELL ACTUALLY

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams

January 20, 2022 by Zirza 10 Comments

Are you a woman? Do you enjoy REAL MEN explaining things to you that your incompetent little lady brain made you think you understood? Then look no further, because if male condescension is your kink then this book is going to moisten your loins.  It’d also mean you had terrible taste in books, but whatever. I try not to kinkshame.  Weeks after the death of her twin sister Cambry, Lena Nguyen asks officer Raymond Raycevic (the fact that someone thought this was a good name […]

So Your protagonist is a Moron.

No Exit by Taylor Adams

January 14, 2022 by Zirza 2 Comments

Writing a good protagonist is obviously a tricky business. You can have all the plot ideas you want, but if there’s nobody to carry them they won’t go anywhere. The problem is that people disagree about what makes a good protagonist. Take Holden Caulfield, for example. Is he the voice of a generation or just a whiny runt with first world problems? (It’s the latter). Unfortunately, as far as No Exit is concerned, your mileage may vary.  The premise of the novel is enticing if […]
