While this is listed as fantasy or horror or magical realism, it read to me as a kind of fable about ignorance about technology in a kind of lost future. There’s the famous Arthur C Clarke idea about technology “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” And I think that’s at play here. Mysterious Healers That Leave Things a Little Too Mysterious

Not really sure what to make of this one! It’s a slow build that’s a bit bizarre, cryptic, and mysterious. I wouldn’t say it was dull (there’s some juicy stuff in there and quite a bit of body horror) but the presentation is almost… blunted?
