The reality I would gladly trade in for our own.

Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

On the book itself (or at least the Amazon page itself) this book is labeled as “pure love, pure joy, a pure escapist read.” YES. YES AND YEEEEEES. I received this gem of a book from my CBR Book Exchange buddy this year (thanks Bonnie!!) and was delighted. It is a GREAT book to be gifted. It was vaguely on my radar, but I didn’t have a real intention of reading it as I’m newer to romance but I read it in two freaking days […]

How do you know it will be any different? Because it has to be.

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I had a lot of expectations going into reading Casey McQuiston’s Red, White, and Royal Blue and the good news is that it was even more delightful than I expected.  In times like these, it was wonderful to be able to immerse myself in a slightly more positive alternative universe (think Great British Bakeoff meets Madame Secretary) and truthfully, I did not want to leave. “And then, inexplicably, you had the absolute audacity to love me back. Can you believe it? Sometimes, even now, I still can’t.”

Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Next up on my Diverse Romance reads is Red, White, & Royal Blue. McQuiston wrote Red, White, & Royal Blue with the intention of making it queer, and making it queer in the way she wished she had read for herself as she was finding her own identity. Her care shows in every step of the novel and its going to be tough for another book to be better than this one this year. Red, White, & Royal Blue has a great premise – what […]

The most enjoyable book I’ve read so far this year

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

#CBR11 Bingo: I Love This First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations. The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between […]
