On the book itself (or at least the Amazon page itself) this book is labeled as “pure love, pure joy, a pure escapist read.” YES. YES AND YEEEEEES. I received this gem of a book from my CBR Book Exchange buddy this year (thanks Bonnie!!) and was delighted. It is a GREAT book to be gifted. It was vaguely on my radar, but I didn’t have a real intention of reading it as I’m newer to romance but I read it in two freaking days and it filled my every atom with pure delight.
Imagine if you will that instead of Trump being elected president we had elected a woman, and SINGLE MOTHER to the highest office in the land. I mean, that being the world this book is in ALONE is enough to just put a skip in your step, but her 18 year old son is about to set his world, and really, the whole world on fire, when he discovers the root of his feud with the crown prince of England. The dialogue in this book, and the text conversations, are laugh-out-loud funny. I cackled throughout and read funny excerpts to my partner, and teared up a bit, so this book definitely had me firmly in its clutches. Not only that, but there is good conflict and intrigue to keep you guessing.
Plus, to find out the author is from south Louisiana?! Hot diggity dang, cuz I am too, and it is just a friggin’ second wave of joy to know that this LGBT gem came out of that place. Hope reigns for us all, people.
I’m delighted to have read it and equally delighted to then regift it to a friend of mine who is reading it as we speak and loves it to. So read it, share it, sing its praises. This would be a great book to kickstart your 2021 with a little love and a lot of laughs.
