“He was one barely powered magician with nothing but a tendency to let books replace people in his life.”

A Marvellous Light (The Last Binding, #1) by Freya Marske

This is, what, like, the tenth book this year I have not wanted to review because I liked it too much? I hate that. Plus also I read it almost two months ago so the details of what I wanted to say about it have escaped me. Mostly, I really, really liked it! This book takes place in a world where there is a magical secret society hidden in plain sight, and one of our main characters, Robin Blyth, is accidentally assigned to a magical […]

Line Drive

“I want someone who can be satisfied with me as I am”

Line Drive by E.M. Lindsey

CBR14Bingo – Series: The second in a series, James’ time constraints from participation in the baseball series is a key part of the romance This is the second book in E.M. Lindsey’s baseball romance series, and hey! I still don’t care about baseball, but luckily the skillful way the author handles relationships makes me willing to pretend I understand the difference between various pitches. Pietro’s best friend James is one of the main characters in this book, and as I really liked him in that […]

An academic slow-burn, very heartwarming, do recommend.

The Place Between by Kit Oliver

I really enjoyed this one. If you are in the mood for a slow burn, quiet romance featuring adults with adult responsibilities and mature emotional reactions, then you might also enjoy The Place Between. I would like it if more people read it, actually, because it seems to be a bit of a hidden gem at the moment. It only has 152 reviews on Goodreads, and less than 1,000 ratings. I will also add, if you are looking for sexiness, you will find that here as […]

Oaths of Legacy

“Ah, Gal. You’ll figure it out eventually.”

Oaths of Legacy by Emily Skrutskie

June 15, 2022 by llamareadsbooks Leave a Comment

I wasn’t a big fan of Gal in the last book, so when I heard this one would be from his POV? Well, I had my reservations. Luckily, while I spent most of the book wanting to smack Gal upside the head, I also very much enjoyed it. This book contains definite spoilers for Bonds of Brass, so be warned! “It never would have worked,” I tell him. “It took me a while to understand it, but . . . I got there.” I got there […]
