“Kill the spare.”

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling

June 11, 2019 by narfna 7 Comments

Well, so I said I wasn’t going to wait to write this, and then I waited to write this. Over two months. I start reading book six tomorrow*. [loud moaning noise] (when fun things become chores) [loud moaning noise] *And then I waited almost two more weeks after writing that sentence. The thing is, it’s not the review writing, it’s the quote transcribing! Something I have learned about myself is I don’t like doing it! I’m not going to make any more promises. That way I won’t feel bad when I inevitably break them. – – – The villagers of […]

Sometimes the Drama Just Finds You

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling, narrated by Jim Dale

June 8, 2017 by faintingviolet 3 Comments

The great re-read continues. I feel that I owe this story an apology. I have long stated that its movie counterpart was my least favorite in the series (yes, even more so than all of that camping in movie 7), and had let that color my memory of the actual book. Friends – I do not remotely hate this book! I might even love it. I’ve been debating with myself for days whether this 4.5 rounds up or down. In my review of Career of Evil, I extolled Rowling’s ability to build out her universes, and go back to the […]

Yer Getting 75% More Plot in the Book than the Movie

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling

March 19, 2017 by Caitlin_D 6 Comments

This is the first Harry Potter book that is a new read for me, although I’ve seen the movie a dozen time, and it’s a much better story. I’m actually retroactively very angry about the movie adaptation! Luckily, there are now several other people embarking on the Harry Potter journey with me so I can, hopefully, commiserate with them since I’m twelve years late to the party. It is going to be very difficult for me to separate the book from the movie so I apologize in advance if you’re not here for that. The book opens in the town where Tom Riddle is from; the […]
