War and Hell

The Last by Hanna Jameson

March 10, 2022 by Jake Leave a Comment

So…nuclear war. Been in the news a lot these days. How about that, eh? I never knew how good I had it as a kid in the (mostly) harmonious 90s. The Iron Curtain fell, the Cold War was over, 9/11 had not yet happened and the only existential threat to America was our collectively stupid reaction to the President’s affair with an intern. Two months later, 20 people remain at a hotel deep into a Swiss forest. A child is discovered dead. History professor Jon decides to document what has happened, and what happens next. Worth quoting: ā€œA lot of people confuse movement with progress.ā€ Why I chose it: Buy one get one half off sale. I’d chosen American Marriage, […]

on A family can be two sisters, one of those sister’s descendants, two other sisters, a magic whale, a sentient island, an omnipotent museum, and academic papers
Made a mistake - there's no 'the' in the title. And the book had me at the cover too.
