Chomp-O-Rama: The Strange Ways That Animals Eat  by Maria Birmingham

April 7, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Chomp-O-Rama: The Strange Ways That Animals Eat  Written by Maria Birmingham Illustrated by: Kyle Reed  Due mid April 2025 Read as an online reader copy Review done by Me This book was exactly what I thought it would be and a little different. The little differences were it was a lot younger looking than I thought it would be and the illustrations were a bit less filled out than I personally would have liked. Exactly what I thought it was was the part about how […]

You’ll Find God First Before You Find A Super Food

December 30, 2017 by degregorius 1 Comment

“Moderation in all things” may be good dietary advice, but can you make videos, books, and classes based on that advice?  Probably. But would they be best sellers like the Atkins diet, or proclaiming (insert food name here) as the new “superfood?  How about identifying foods high in (insert gluten, carbohydrates or gluten) to avoid in favor of foods high in protein? Matt Fitzgerald’s book Diet Cults examines the fads, the proclaiming of certain ingredients as bette noir and the identifying of certain foods to […]

“I was starting to feel slightly superior. ‘You should soak raw almonds in water,’ I said to my friend…”

July 28, 2015 by Caitycat Leave a Comment

Rebecca Harrington posted a series of articles where she tries celebrity diets. Her book repeats a lot of those articles, but also includes new ones. I found the book entertaining, even though I had already read almost half of it. I loved reading about the crazier diets, and though I feel mean saying it, the harder the diet was the more I liked reading about it. There are chapters on modern celebrities, such as Gwyneth Paltrow, and classic stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth […]

Yes, It’s About Sugar. But Not In the Way I Expected.

February 7, 2015 by ASKReviews Leave a Comment

This is another book where I should have read the description more closely. I thought this would be a book about the ills of sugar, and in a way, it was. But what it more specifically was about was one man’s experience with type-two diabetes (including learning from his father, who lost most of his leg and his life to the effects of the disease). It was a compelling story, but the mixture of arrogance and naïveté that the author manages to put forth left […]

I am a sucker for diet books; if you struggle with your weight at all, you will understand when I say, the promise of losing weight is really the promise of a better life. Of course it

That’s More Like It, Mary!

January 19, 2014 by anotterchaos 2 Comments

I have no idea why the author & book information was left out; it is there in the draft. Anyway, the book is Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal by Mary Roach. This is the purchase link: http://www.amazon.com/Gulp-Adventures-Alimentary-Mary-Roach/dp/0393081575. Ah, this is what a Mary Roach book should be.
