Avatar The Last Airbender: The Promise by Gene Luen Yang

July 27, 2020 by Mobius_Walker Leave a Comment

I am very lucky that I have adult friends who are nerds in the same way that I am. A friend of mine recently let me borrow all 5 complete collections of the Avatar graphic novels. This review is of the first one. Avatar the Last Airbender: The Promise picks immediately following the events of the three seasons of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Avatar Aang and newly crowned Fire Lord Zuko must find away to heal the world of the damage that […]

Because I want the best for you, here’s the short version: scroll to the bottom of this review and click the link to buy it. When someone you love gives you Avatar; the last airbender you really know you’re good at picking people to love. Still the tv-show was over far too fast and it left a sadness in my life, like reading the last, final chapter of Harry Potter back when J.K Rowling actually had us convinced she’d never touch the story again. So when I got the Avatar; The Promise comics for Christmas I put them on my bookshelf and for many months enjoyed simply walking past them; knowing […]

Just makes me want to re-watch the series, again.

Oh, man. I love that these comics exist, and are an official continuation of the story. Avatar: The Last Airbender is my comfort food. I watch it when I’m sick and it’s so happy and lovely and colorful. And look, I know it’s a kid’s show, but UGH IT’S SO GOOD. I also love Legend of Korra, and am super looking forward to the comics continuation of that show that’s supposed to be coming out soon. With all that said, this wasn’t my favorite of these […]
