Books have been a part of my life from a very young age . I'm currently being ruled over by 3 cats (Rafferty, Bodhi Rook & Yersinia Pestis), who I can mostly get not to chew on book covers. Lately, I'll read anything, though Science Fiction and Romance will always be on the bottom of the pile.

I am a huge fan of mystery novels, especially historical ones sent in Tudor England, so the Shardlake series was a a huge yes for me. Sansom delivers an incredibly well-written and well-researched England set during the reign of Henry VIII. Like give a positive review of this book. By the fourth book, you should really know how you feel about the characters, and be invested in the plot; I don’t, and I’m not. Alcatraz just gets smarmier and more annoying each page, and the rest of the characters seem like they’re just walking through their parts, reading off lines to move the plot along. This book was a slight letdown compared to the first one. In The Disfavored Hero, Tomoe Gozen was a strong, kickass lesbian female samurai who was living her life following the Bushido; in this one, she’s on the run from her father because he wants her to get married.
