I am an adult. At least, physically. Mentally (depending on the day) I am too young to even know about, let alone read, My Mom Only Sells Fans (Inappropriate Children’s Stories) by R. Moneymaker. Therefore I can honestly say, I have not read it. Instead, I had it read to me by rsullivan1991 on Facebook (I think his name is Ryan Sullivan, but I only have rsullivan1991 on the screenshot I took, and he uses this moniker across platforms).
Quick background: Mr. RSullivan1991 is a hunky Scottish gent who has a wicked thick (sexy) brogue and occasionally reads the inappropriate picture books for adults that are out there. Usually it is hard to understand, not just because of the accent, but because he laughs too hard throughout the reading. So thank goodness for subtitles and pictures.
My Mom Only Sells Fans is the first one by Moneymaker (I am assuming not their read name) I have seen. But like all of the inappropriate books, there are numerous innuendos throughout. We know that Selling Only Fans is a not-so-subtle nod to the site Only Fans. The fact that mom and her friends come out of her room sweaty is also not too subtle. As are the other pieces that give a shoutout to the adult platform, se%ual acts, etc. Such as the part with Grandma is um… okay, not what one would expect, but would be hilarious (and tbh freakin’ fantastic, because Girl Power/You go Granny!) if it happened or the part with the narrator/daughter is a little bit more than a bit inappropriate due to current events. Yet, it is a spoof and supposed to be humorous and a bit more than a little tongue in cheek.
The art is Computer 101 as it is imagewise not overly complicated. It is overly and under-polished (too smooth but also too static and no flow to show action … and not the kind you think I mean). The details get the job done but are not plentiful. I assume most (if not all) books that follow this format are self or independently published and therefore they tend to be not as mainstream looking as one is used to. The only issue I have with this particular naughty but nice addition to the books out there was it was a bit underdeveloped and the story didn’t hit the way others have for me. I write this review to let you know about it and it is one of the newer ones with its January 2026 publication.
