I can’t recall the last time I was this annoyed. Oh yeah, The Rose Field. Anyway. This book was slow, meandering, and ultimately made my brain mad because I knew within a few percentage of my e-Reader, I knew who was the killer, I just didn’t know why. And when you get to the why I tossed my hands up and said for real? And I just don’t know. No spoilers and all, but the whole thing was so unhinged and I feel like the killer needed therapy and hobbies. And it didn’t help that I didn’t like any of the characters, Christa (the main character) included. They and she all felt very one dimensional. I get that many mystery authors try to do a homage to And Then There Was One at least once, but this was so convoluted to the point it just delves into absurdity. I had previously selected this book for a bingo and I ended up pausing my read of it (this was way back in September) and then kept trying to finish it. The flow of the book was so bad I just gave up and finally this week made myself sit and finish it. I really should have DNFed it after I got to the 25 percent mark. Oh well. Onto other books.
