This is a sweet little confection of a supernatural romantic comedy in which two people fake date until they reach their stated goals then part as respectful friends… Just kidding, it goes exactly as you’d expect.
Violet Maxwell is a witch without magic. She’s made a good life for herself away from the magical high society her family belongs to. But as the oldest Maxwell triplet the loophole she used to avoid a Witch Bond is closing. Alpha Wolf Lincoln Throne is coming up on his own mating deadline as well. Will these two manage to put aside old hurts and work together or will Lincoln break Violet’s heart again as he did when they were teenagers?
This book was very sweet and amusing. I always find the fake dating trope fun to read and this did not disappoint. I also appreciated that the reasons they could never ever never fall in love again hinged on teenage misunderstandings that could be talked out, not something truly horrifying that I’m asked to believe love will eventually conquer. I didn’t really think this was spicy at all- mostly serious sexual tension, lustful thoughts and a couple little sex scenes. Though the characters are all some sort of flavor of supernatural they are all out in the open in the world of the book.
This is the first of the Supernatural Singles trilogy and I enjoyed it so much I immediately grabbed the second and put the third on hold. April Asher is definitely going on the authors to follow list!
