A dog (the publisher description says it is an Australian shepherd) feels they have the most special, wonderful, The Best Flower Ever! And they do. Until another dog comes along and says, OH I have a flower, too. And that flower is bigger, shiner, the bees like it better. And then again, another dog comes, and their flower is the best! One lives in the desert, one smells relaxing, one is virtual, one taught the cat to be potty trained. And our shepherd friend becomes discourage, and accidently ruins his flower. But he need not fear. He has a bunch of friends that show him what’s really important. And it does not matter what your flower is, they are all The Best Flower Ever!
Neesha Hudson’s book is due in mid-June 2023. They also were the illustrator as well as author. I was wondering if this was a series (after all I barely can tell a chihuahua and a St. Bernard apart, so I am not sure how you are supposed to know the main pup is a shepherd). And while the other book I found, Turtle in a Tree, might not be a book one, you can see Hudson has a certain style to her doggies.
There is a light-hearted seriousness to the illustrations. They are not overly bursting with color, but they are well put together. They are the perfect ones for the story. The perfect details, the person colors and of course, they are the best illustrations ever!
Good for most ages.
