CBR15Passport, different format (detective novel, humor and graphic novel form)
As advertised. Farts. Puns. More farts. Along with some crappy tea. And did I mention, there is a funky soup and cake? It is a birthday party after all, but someone (or thing) has raised a stink. Will this group of friends, with one very determined best friend (slash) detective out to find the culprit, find out who dealt it? Or will the party be a pooper?
I do not know who Josh Crute and James Rey Sanchez are, but they made Super-Serious Mysteries V01: The Untimely Passing of Nicholas Fart a gas. The names of the characters let you know right up front what you are dealing with, such as Nicholas Fart and Penelope Whiff. The cast is diverse, the jokes stink (and are funny as someone else tooting in church) and punny. This is not for the weak of stomach, and yes, not for those sensitive to raising a stink. As said you get what you see and what you paid for. And I got a free readers copy, so I got my money’s worth and then some.
Because I liked this book. I do not think I will go onto others in the series, but I know that a good fart is a blast and once in awhile we need a to laugh at ourselves (and in this case, others). The illustrations are perfect to the tone of this graphic novel and are dealt with good colors and details. There is a sidebar arc that has a Sherlock Holmes-like narrator, but mostly we see the gang of kids. I would say that while there is a good amount of text, a reluctant reader might be the best audience, or for that kid that really likes humor of the bathroom variety.
