I have been wanting to try Discworld for so long, but sort of like Doctor Who, it’s just…a lot, for someone who didn’t grow up with it/around it (ducks to avoid the shrieks). What is a Discworld? How does one start? Where does one go? The things I hear about it make me want to read it so VERY much, but it’s like every white whale of a book x 1000 because there’s seemingly a thousand million books in this series.
Is it even about a world shaped like a Disc? How is it possible I know so little about this beloved series?
What makes me want to read this series more than anything else was, actually, the viral sensation Dogfather by Holli Michele, which asked what if Harry was adopted by a loving Muggle family instead of weird abusive family, and then Sirius proceeded to look over him. Like a Dogfather. In any case, I started following her tumblr and she always speaks of Terry Prachett so warmly and approvingly.
SO, when it came time to write down what I wanted for holiday gift exchange, I was exceedingly vague except for one request–“If you could guide me on how to start Discworld, I’d appreciate it!” and who has come to my rescue but Malin, she of the infallible romance recommendations. So–thank you!!! I’m very much looking forward to curling up and reading these, and then finding my TBR exploded with Discworld in 2023 🙂
