Christmas is around the corner, and some people like to give books for the day. I have two books that might work as gifts.
Now it might not get to you before Christmas if your store does not have it in stock, but you can put it on your list for next year. What am I talking about? Unicorn Christmas by Diana Murray, that’s what! Okay, so I was not completely thrilled with the text (it was a tad younger than I usually like) but don’t put me on the naughty list yet. You see, just because it was not for me, does not mean it was not for you. If you like stories where there are unicorns, mermaids, and other magical and wonderful critters, then this is a great book for you. This is a fun Christmas Eve read because it shows how they all prepare for the big night, and while they are waiting for a special guest to their holiday cheer, we can enjoy the boldly colored and simply (but perfectly) detailed illustrations of Luke Flowers. Santa makes an appearance, and the reindeer get to play some games, and it is just a wonderfully cupcake and rainbow holiday!
And if you have a reader who likes Fairies and family time, you can get them We’re Off to Find a Fairy. This modern take has a classic feel. We follow our narrator as they and their diverse friends and family seek out fairies. And along the way how many wonderful surprises they find. Corey Reid made a sweet story that shows how a Fairy Hunt is a Nature Walk. The softly colored and minimally detailed illustrations work on many levels. You can read them as well as the text, and both compliment each other perfectly. The nice thing about We’re Off to Find a Fairy is that it is a year-round read. I was getting both spring and autumn vibes but is just a fun all ages book.
