Another Edelweiss read was Too Many Rabbits. And I will assume that Davide Cali’s book was only a sample, as there were a few missing pieces, but enough was given so I know that in mid-March 2023 this book will be on all the lists. I will be honored for the illustrations of Emanuele Benetti, it will be noted for the text of Cali, and it will be applauded for the subject. I would not be surprised if Angus Yuen-Killick was given note of their translation.
Now, anyone who knows rabbits know why there are too many rabbits, but for some reason the father of the story is not aware of such a thing and should have settled for buying just one rabbit, never mind the great deal two rabbits were! And yes, they grow and grow and grow in numbers. In a counting book format, we then countdown to how many rabbits are given away at each stop. The cover shows you the colors (or lack of) that are included and how much detail is included as well. Owen and Zoey (two siblings) and their dad must use their brains to come of with clever solutions for the situation.
Love it, or not, this book is fun and will work for multiple levels and interests. Personally, I was not jumping up and down over it, but I do know that when it comes out, I want to see the final product. Therefore, I mostly reserve judgement until that day occurs. Until then, this is a rating of 2.5-3.
