Our World: Italy by Francesca Di Marzo, Our World: Mexico by Cynthia Harmony, Our World: Brazil by Ana Siqueira and Our World: India by Meera Sriram have two things in common. The first, they are awesome books and second, they are about the world aimed at the young reader/listener. Some are already published, while others are coming within the next few months.
The stories follow the culture, language and more in a small format. The authors and illustrators (while the
illustrations are similar to each other, but each has its own illustrator. Naida Mazzenga, Claudia Navarro, Ana Matsusaki, and Neethi have been given that honor) bring to life places we might not know of, might not get to travel to and places we should know a little something about. While there is nothing earth shattering, there is a lot going on in a few pages and a lot of fun. And the colors pop and are minimal detailed, but fun detailed.
I do not have a favorite book, but each one is cute and simple. They each are nice, and you can have just the one that fits your needs or collect all to introduce your toddlers to the world around them. They will see people that might look and act a little different, but in the end, we get to see how much we are alike as well.
I read a couple of these title online through Edelweiss, and others I was skimming the illustrations from this site, but each one you can see the wonderful goodies that they will contain.
