Not much to say besides I really enjoyed this. Have some tissues nearby though cause parts are going to make you cry. Who knew you could write a romance novel involving ghosts and death and have it not turn into a Nicholas Sparks novel where you want to fight people in the end?
“The Dead Romantics” follows ghost writer Florence Day. Florence tried to publish her own book years earlier and it “flopped.” Now she writes for an uber famous romance novelist. Problem is that Florence can no longer write romance. She doesn’t believe it in anymore after her last breakup and she finds herself writing something that is very not romance. When she meets with the new editor, Benji Andor (who believes she’s just an assistant) she is told she only has a certain number of days before she must submit something else. With that though, comes a death she wasn’t expecting which has her back in her hometown she escaped 10 years earlier for many reasons.
I don’t want to spoil too much of the book and want to say that you should go in as spoiler free as you can. I don’t know what else to say except you will love it. Poston brings every character to life and I felt like I was walking with Florence in her hometown. I also loved how ghosts get incorporated into this story.
5 stars!
