Seriously, I know many adults who could use Welcome: A Mo Willems Guide for New Arrivals. Classic Willems humor falls off each page (wait, that was me and my chair …) I read several pages out loud (and one reading dealt with the poop page. Shocking, I know. Me finding poop funny…) This introduction to the world tells us there will be cats (well, the book has a drawing of a cat, but the narrator tells the listener that there will be real cats, too). But there will also be soggy toast and ice cream disasters. But there will be love and other wonderful things. And if you have questions, just call, flair about or scream like a banshee.
This humorous book (with extremely minimalistic illustrations, that still somehow say more than a 100 words times ten could) talks about the ups and downs of life. The injustices but also the people who are helping, too. There is a lot going on in a handful of pages. I could have done without the mirrors at the front and back of the book, but I know babies love that kind of thing.
A board book that is a must have for all new parents and new babies. Even if this is your second, third or even fourth, you must have this. And if you are a kid at heart, you should at least give this a look or two. And if you are like me, you will not only be laughing out loud, reading out loud to your most indulgent coworker, you will be wanting to start all over.
