There is a fifth book in the Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast series. This treat is called The Great Caper Caper. Yes, you read that right, there is a not so pleasant caper in our midst, and they are going to get our Lady and Sir into a sticky situation.
Josh Funk adds the humorous text; Brendan Kearney adds the humorous illustrations to the mystery you will read. When the light in the fridge is missing, everyone fears they will be in near darkness forever. Yet, they know what to do, and hunt down the clues to find that they will have to go to Las Veggies to get answers. The whole gang (Miss Brie, Baron von Waffle, and more) all join in on the fun, mystery, and danger to help bring the light back.
Now, you the adult reader know that things will work out. That Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast will save the refrigerator light, save the day, and they will all live happily ever after. But we have seen that story before. There was nothing new or fresh to the story. I think Funk has gone to the food pantry once too often and the novelty is spoiled. Maybe this is because I was never a huge fan to start with, or maybe because there are just a lot of anamorphic food books right now, but either way, it was not a hit for me. However, at the end there is a fun pun about a famous singer that I found amusing.
With that said, I think if you love this funky gang (and yes, I am sorry Mr. Josh, I had to go there), then you will be tickled peach to find a new adventure with old friends.
