A spoonful of sugar can make the medicine go down, but what does A Spoonful of Frogs do? They make up the most important ingredient in a witch’s favorite dish! Yet, they do not go quietly into that good cauldron!
Humorous antics of the witch and frogs makes Casey Lyall’s picture book a fun treat to dine your eyes on. In the form of a cooking show for witches, our witch of the
hour has more trouble getting frogs into her dish than a dog trying to scratch and itch while wearing a cone on themselves! Chasing those hopping little green frogs all over the studio, and finally even outside, our witch has one heck of a crazy, looney, amusing adventure. It makes one wonder; will they ever be able to make the dish they want to make?
Vera Brosgol adds to the fun with colorful and amusing illustrations. The images are expressive (that is one less than amused witch on several pages) and they are easy to follow. They are able to complete and compliment the text. When you get to the end, if you are watching closely, you will be able to find out how the witch might find a solution to her difficult situation.
Due mid to late July of 2022 you will be able to have plenty of time to get ready for not only the Halloween rush, but able to have some fun for reading on raining summer days. I think this might become my favorite Not-Halloween-Halloween read this year.
