Hmm it was very okay, I think, but perhaps not one that I’d recommend. It’s almost a month later and I can’t really remember the book, which is probably a sign that I didn’t like it all that much–otherwise I would have talked about it with a friend.
There’s a much more interesting story about the Hell’s Belles smothered by a romance with a guy who has such an OBVIOUS issue (he’s not actually an evil murderer, these romantic heros never are!) and is clearly going to be able to work out his issues by the end. Less of him and more of Sesily’s attempts to apply lady’s street justice to terrible men.
I can imagine a different world in which the Hell’s Belles meet up with the League of Extraordinary Women and work to bring down both injust laws and jerk dudes!
Oh now that I think about it–I really enjoyed reading about the rest of Sesily’s sisters and their happy married lives. It’s not always that you see the extended day to day epilogues for characters in romance novels. Had I read their stories I probably would have really enjoyed seeing them show up with the besotted Duke/wealthy merchant-type husbands.
