My Happy choice for cbr12bingo,The art makes me happy. The sayings are not my personal tastes but will be perfect for the right reader. They are supposed to show that there is happy out there. This makes Zen Happiness a great hostess gift, graduation gift (for all ages) and just a nice book to have in your collection for a pick-me-up from time-to-time.
As I said, the art of Jon J. Muth makes me happy. Even his darker colored, shadowy images are happy. Plus, I love his name is Jon J. Not, J.J. but Jon J. (How many times has someone said, “Jon J. is more than okay”?) And his last name, Muth? It looks like a happy word. And those richly colored and detailed images are just pleasing to the eye. Even when they are bright colors, they are also comfortable. They portray the story without needing words. And with a book with positive snippets, one would think that would not work, but it does. You can just relax, breathe and enjoy this small book.
And one of my reasons these sayings of positiveness is a happy book is that most books that are supposed to make you happy, make me grumpy. Especially books with Zen in the title. While I support those who enjoy the practice of being/having more of a Zen attitude, it is a word that seems overused and cliché to me. Besides, who are you Author Person to tell me how to be happy? What route to take? I pick my own happy and path to happy. And Muth is part of my happy and I hope he can become part of your happy, too!
