Dear Justice League,
How did you know that ages 7 to 10 (and the big kid in all of us) would want to read this book (called Dear Justice League by author Michael Northrop) over and over? This format of your Justice League character (Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern and Superman) fans emailing you a letter (and actual pen and paper writing to Batman) asking about things as deep as “Do you ever make mistakes?” to “Does Aquaman smell like fish?” is fantastic.
And each of your answers delightfully show your personalities. I love how we learn that even Superman makes mistake (and has the speeding/texting while flying ticket to prove it). And we learn even someone as cool (and as he says, handsome) as Aquaman can be self-conscious (he smells like seaweed?). And to know that Batman was once the new kid on the block and has advice on how to handle it, gives us all confidence. And not to mention that Hawkgirl feeds little mammals not eat them is good to know. And what a lesson Wonder Woman teaches us (and boy do those Amazonians know how to throw a party! Pin the tail on the kanga anyone?).
Also, you are all superheroes so where do you find the time to fight villains, make puns, play video games and answer your fans? I am just amazed at how super you all are that you can battle the insectoids without having to call in the SWAT team like The Flash commented. Washington, DC and your loyal fans thank you!
To top it all off, we get to see you in all your hero glory in funny and colorful illustrations by Gustovo Duarte. This is truly one of my favorite reads of this week.
Thank you and Happy Super-Heroing!
Your fan, ME.
