These three stories have nothing in common other than, they are really sweet stories about special people and special things. Is That You, Eleanor Sue? written and illustrated by Tricia Tusa. Harold Loves His Wolly Hat by Vern Kousky and When I First Met You, Blue Kangaroo! by Emma Chichester Clark give me happy feels.
Eleanor Sue is a clever, cut kiddo who loves to pretend and play dress up. She loves her Saturdays, her mother, her grandmother and having fun. Harold loves his woolly hat as it makes him special. But when he learns that someone else could use his hat more, he finds another way to be special. And of course, Emma Clark shows us how Lily and Blue Kangaroo became the most special of friends.
While I enjoyed all three, there really is not one thing that makes me yell OH YES Favorite Book EVER! What it does make me say is, Oh! These are really cool books and I know a lot of people who will like them (all of you included) and I would not mind picking it up again and reading sometime in the future.
They all have fun, bright and exciting illustrations. Eleanor Sue’s are simple detailed, but there is a lot going on. Harold is a lot simpler, but everything is there for a reason and Blue Kangaroo not only hops into Lilly’s bed, but off the page with all the busy excitement and colors going around.
These will be fun anytime stories for you, your child or classroom. (I am linking Eleanor Sue as it is the newest title of the three)
