I absolutely loved this book! It is so much better than the second one in this series, ‘Me After You’, and possibly equal with the first, ‘Me Before You’.
I found this book to be better than the second one for two main reasons. Firstly it put the focus back onto Lou and her quest for enjoyment, life fulfilment and love. Secondly it is set in NYC which is my most favourite place in the world.
This book follows Lou who becomes a personal assistant to the wife, Agnes, of a mega rich New York man, Leonard. Lou works on keeping a long distance relationship with Sam – the ambulance man back in her home town. This book explores the relationships around Lou and how they impact on her and her choices. It also looks at how society involves different classes and the challenges with relationships across these classes. Lou shows growth in her character by making choices for herself and being able to develop relationships that help her to achieve her own desires.
I enjoyed the journey Lou was on, from making choices to free herself of people, to making choices based on what she thought people expected of her, to finally making choices for herself regardless of the influence of others. A great story about recognising the importance of yourself and how to shift the balance from looking outwards to looking inwards.
I give this story 5 stars and look forward to reading more of Jojo’s books, especially if there is another narrative in the Lou Clark series.
