How to write 250 words about Saga, Volume 5? I really struggle to sum up my thoughts on each volume, because I am possibly the worlds most ridiculous person when it comes to spoilers. I like to go into things like a newborn babe, with no knowledge or framing of the experience. So, what to say about this that doesn’t give anything away?
Our main heroes (anti-heroes?) are still being chased, and still vacillating between making good and bad choices, with the dial swaying to bad more often than good. But, such is the life of fugitives and the parents of a child whose mere existence is a threat to the way of life on two planets, and across the galaxy. Both the chasees and chasers have come across some unlikely bedfellows in their respective quests, and alliances are all balancing on the precipice of destruction. And of course, like all volumes of Saga, hijinks ensue. And by “hijinks” I mean graphic violence and adult, shall we say, experiences? Plus, lots of drugs happening, with some clear “and this is why maybe don’t drugs, kids” thrown in for good measure.
I classify Saga as a guilty pleasure, not that I feel guilty about it exactly, just that it is the most fun least educational thing I put my brain on, but I am immensely glad to have found the series and recommend it to anyone who won’t let a little (lot) of violence and destruction get in the way of a good time.
(And that makes 251 words. Score!!!)
