When a little girl needs to do a little yoga, she counts the ways to do the poses…. literally. This yoga book for children combines animal poses that children can do and counting. Fun text combined with bright, soft colorful images has never made educational look so good!
Yoga books are never my thing. Honestly, they can be a little “preachy” most of the time. Yet, this book is very straight forward. “We do a yoga pose” end of story. The counting of the animals is not intensive either. Yet, you can tell it is a counting book. The presentation is creative and very much a representation of what Yoga stands for.
Great for young children to be introduced to yoga without being bombarded with it. Also, a great counting book. Makes for a great anytime read, but would be a great bedtime story due to the “softness” of the text and illustrations. They are both soothing. A perfect gift for your child, grandchild or for any children in your life. Adults who know yoga will appreciate it as well.
The end pages that describe the types of poses (there is really a bear pose) helps the novice be introduced to a subject they might not be as familiar with. Or for the person who does know them, to explain to someone not familiar with yoga or yoga poses. So hop like a frog, slither like a snake, and roar like a lion while you enjoy Zoo Zen: A Yoga Story for Kids!
