Aw, this was just adorable. Our modern day Cinderella is Elle Wittimer, who works at her stepmother’s pumpkin-shaped food truck and dreams of escaping to a better life. Her deceased father was a huge fan of a show called Starfield, and Elle sees her chance when they announce a cosplay contest at a comic convention. Our Prince Charming is the star of the new Starfield reboot, and he too feels dissatisfied with his life as a soap opera star and teen heartthrob.
“And if we’re both looking up at the same sky, how far apart can we REALLY be? What were the odds of us being put on the same slab of rock in this huge universe?”
It’s just a really cute story. The author does a good job drawing parallels to Cinderella (I particularly liked her re-imagining of a fairy godmother), and Elle makes for a great heroine. YA lovers should read this one.
