So I randomly picked this audiobook out at my local library. I was there with my nieces to read to dogs.
Sidebar – my library has this awesome program where young readers can read whatever book they want to therapy dogs. It’s awesome, and my seven year old niece looks forward to it every month!
This is her reading Dragons Love Tacos to one of the dogs a few months ago.
Aaaaanyway, back to this book. I realized after I finished it that it’s book three in a series. I really can’t count the number of times I’ve done that!! Clearly I didn’t need to read the first two to figure out what was happening. But – on a positive note, after reading this book I got the first two books from the series from my library, so I obviously liked it!
The only thing that drove me a little nutty was that one of the character’s names was Summer Sumner. Like literally, her parents thought it’d be a good idea to name their daughter that. So, if that’s my only major gripe, we’re in good shape!
The main character is Walt Fleming. He’s the sheriff in a golfing / boating / hiking community that sees a lot of wine tourists. I think I may have just made that up – wine tourists. There’s a big wine auction coming up, so lots of fancy people fly in on their private jets, and lots of fancy wine is coming to town. There’s an attempted wine heist, and an accidental murder. I’m sure it’d be negligent homicide or something, but accidental murder sounds cooler. The first half revolves around the wine and the attempted robbery, then the second half is a hijacking / kidnapping / revenge story. I liked the characters, I liked the story, and I liked the guy reading the audiobook!
