I bought this book at a garage sale for twenty-five cents, then forgot I owned it for 3 years. I rediscovered it last week while looking for something mindless to read, and it definitely fit the bill!
Eve and her two sisters have a senile, sex-addicted father and a mother who disappeared years ago. Eve deals mostly with the father, as her older sister’s a high-powered magazine executive, and the younger sister is a flake. The whole book, as you may have guessed, consists of phone calls between Eve and the father, or Eve and the sisters. Occasional flashbacks to their childhood appear. It’s pretty tedious, with unsympathetic characters and a lot of outdated dialogue/actions. But it was definitely mindless!
