I really loved this book and I don’t remember much from the other books. I don’t even remember when exactly I read them. But the beautiful thing about this book was that there were little helpful reminders about past events that were important. Like how Clary stabbed Jace with Glorious to separate him from Sebastian in City of Lost Souls. Totally forgot about that until it was mentioned in the book.
This book swallowed me up in the new characters and the action! I was practically never bored, but I can see where people would be. I completely fell in love with all the characters over again, especially Magnus but he’s always been my like absolute favorite. So glad to also see old characters from her TID series and I hope they show up again in Lady Midnight! The plot was pretty intense, especially the last couple chapters. Sebastian has a really well thought out plan and he’s enacting it one step at a time. His plan is also very evil, thank you very much.
There’s quite a bit of fighting, as one would expect, but there’s also time for some romance and intense heart to hearts. One of my favorites was between Jace and Alec, when they discuss Alec’s feelings about his split with Magnus. It was so lovely, I can’t explain the butterflies it gave me. One of the new characters, who is the main hero in Lady Midnight, is Emma Carstairs. I don’t know exactly why, but I liked her character so much! She was funny, loyal and an overall badass, I loved it!! I really am hoping she’ll talk more with Brother Zachariah in LM, but I’ll have to wait and see. I’m so freaking excited, I want to experience everything in the world of Shadowhunters!
