Book Two of the Century Trilogy takes us through the time between the World Wars and all the way through World War II. Lady Maud Fitzherbert is married to a German, and struggling in Germany with her family – trying to survive and fight the Nazis at the same time. The American Dewars end up fighting in different theaters (one Pacific, one European). The Russian Peshkovs (well, the one that stayed behind) are part of the Communist regime.
This book features most of the main characters from Fall of Giants, plus the next generation. It’s huge, long, covers too much of everything. Parts of it are incredibly gut wrenching, especially what happened in Germany after the war. We did those people no favors, leaving the country the way we did.
Anyway, it’s more intertwined sweeping epic, and again, this is a short review for a super long book because I’m a slacker who’s running out of time.
