I Want a Robot Friend Too Now

January 6, 2016 by Melina 1 Comment

Little Robot is a graphic novel (with very few words) that I saw a few months ago reviewed somewhere and I thought that it might be just the thing for my five year old who can’t bear to sit still while we read at night.  Instead, he and his three year old sister dance, fight, mosh , dress the dogs and well… do just about anything else (other than listen) while my seven year old and I glare at them from the top of book. […]

Brandon Sanderson goes meta.

April 4, 2015 by narfna Leave a Comment

So the other day, B-Sand just decided to drop this surprise novella on us, and SURPRISE, it was surprising. I downloaded it immediately. I went into it blind, and at first, I wasn’t really very into it. It takes a little bit before you have your bearings enough to realize that no, this isn’t just yet another magical world he’s created with yet another magical system that didn’t seem all that distinct. I was particularly worried when his narrator (a first person narrator) starts talking […]

Robot Love

December 30, 2014 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

The Silver Metal Lover was a great introduction to Tanith Lee for me. This particular month, Vaginal Fantasy focused on a robot theme with authors questioning the power of love with an artificial being. This particular love story is about a young, naive rich girl named Jane. She lives a pretty sheltered life in a beautiful mansion in the sky with her mother. All her friends are jaded and mean, living quite the hedonistic lifestyle on their parents money. One day while walking with her gay friend Clovis, she comes across a […]

Oh, Jane, would it have hurt you to be just a bit more interesting?

September 21, 2014 by Malin Leave a Comment

Jane lives a pampered and privileged life, the only child of a wealthy and influential woman. She’s lonely, insecure and immature. She has no real friends, just people who mainly seem to take pleasure in bullying her. One day, she encounters a robot minstrel, one in a new line of highly realistic, artificially intelligent androids and her life is never the same. Though she is initially frightened by the robot, she’s also fascinated by him and can’t put him out of her mind. She runs […]
