CBR14 Bingo: “Cold” Bingo! – Winter lasts for three years before the start of Ragnarok. Mobius_Walker’s  review of The Witch’s Heart brought it to my attention last year during bingo and now it’s my turn to review The Witch’s Heart for bingo.  My knowledge of Norse mythology is sketchy at best.  It’s mostly gleaned through other works drawing on Norse mythology (such as Neil Gaiman’s American Gods) and pop culture.  This did not hinder my enjoyment of the book.  It also meant that I didn’t have any preconceived […]

BINGO – MYTHIC Angrboda is a thrice burned witch, and a thrice survived witch at that. She strikes up a friendship and trading partnership with a giantess name Skadi […]

Ragnarok Unwound, by Kristin Jacques

What if you threw an apocalypse and no one came? Aw-kward.

Don’t you hate when you sit down for a drink at a bar and a Valkyrie approaches you to ask a favor? Ikepela Ives can relate. Ever since her parents dropped the bombshell that Ives is the world’s designated Fate Cipher–whatever that means–Ives has been trying to keep off the radar of everything supernatural. Unfortunately, Ragnarok is about to kick off and Ives might be the only one who can stop it. Ives starts to track down Loki and his children (the central characters in […]

I don’t think I plan on reading “Norse Mythology” by Neil Gaiman. I am sure it is perfectly good, but for lots of reasons, this book being one of them, I feel like I have a lot of and plenty of experience reading about the Norse people and their myths.
