My love for Seanan McGuire continues

Late Eclipses by Seanan McGuire

Discount Armageddon by Seanan McGuire

December 29, 2022 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I’m slowly working my way through Seanan McGuire’s body of work. Her books are exactly the kind of urban fantasy I love. She has a way of writing witty heroines who put their lives on the line for others. I decided to put the InCryptid series into the rotation. I bought the first book on audiobook on sale ages ago. I also have been desperate to read novels I already own. It was a win-win. Discount Armageddon introduces us to Verity Price. She comes from a long […]

Bring on the Summer Junk Reading

Discount Armageddon by Seanan McGuire

June 20, 2020 by CoffeeShopReader 8 Comments

Yay for fun summer junk reading on this the first day of actual summer! And it’s book 1 of a series! Discount Armageddon is in many ways a traditional urban fantasy on the lighter side: Verity Price comes from a family of cryptid studiers (not a real word I know but they are not strictly observers, nor strictly hunters, nor purely helpers), but what she really wants to do with her life is become a professional ballroom dancer in New York City. She balances both […]

Bingo: And So It Begins, with free running off the rooftops of New York

Discount Armageddon (Incryptid Series Book 1) by Seanan Maguire

August 5, 2019 by sistercoyote Leave a Comment

Verity (“Very”) Price has more going on than you’d think. In addition to working as a waitress at a strip club, subletting semi-legally, preparing for a dance competition, and generally trying to keep a roof over her head (and those of her colony of Aeslin Mice), she’s also responsible for keeping tabs on New York’s cryptid population. Which doesn’t leave her much, if any, time for dating.

Anyone who says you can lose their love isn’t really family, no matter what blood says.

Tricks for Free by Seanan McGuire

May 1, 2018 by melanir 4 Comments

So with this review I think I’ve finally worked my way through the backlog of books. I mean, I’ve still got a couple that I need to review but they’re more recent. Yay!? Anyway Tricks for Free is the latest book in Seanan McGuire’s InCryptid series. It was fun, and I’m firmly committed to this series. I don’t know if this book is my favorite, but I enjoyed every second I spent reading it. This book follows Antimony Price to a Disney World stand-in. Antimony […]

Some days I don’t know if I am wrong or right

Magic for Nothing by Seanan McGuire

March 29, 2017 by Lipton Leave a Comment

“My theory of combat is simple: keep it as far away from myself as I can. I am a soft, squishy creature, with lots of moving pieces, and I want to keep all those moving pieces safely contained inside my skin.” -Antimony Price
