I Heard You Paint Houses is not a good book. It’s like reading a court transcript with historical footnoting, which made it a slog for me to read. Maybe Charles Brandt’s other books are better because he’s more interested in editorializing his subject’s reminiscence instead of just putting it out there with minimal context and background work. Episode 1-22: Lenny Dykstra is My Spirit Animal

June 11, 2018 by prisco Leave a Comment

https://killingmykindle.com/2018/06/11/episode-1-22-lenny-dykstra-is-my-spirit-animal/ Wherein I review: 85. The Summer of Dead Toys by Antonio Hill 86. I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt 87. Peter Pan Must Die (Dave Gurney #4) by John Verdon One procedural goes a bit telenovela (or maybe I’m just racist)(probably).  One diminutive contract assassin kills someone with a Ferris wheel.  And we finally find out who killed Jimmy Hoffa.  It was Eli Manning.  That motherless whore.

I really enjoyed this one. I was particularly amused at Lady Catherine deBoutgh’s disgust at her assassin’s incompetence.
