The Epilogue is the best part

The Dark Archive by Genevieve Cogman

September 11, 2021 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Bingo 21: Pandemic Since the purpose of this square is “whatever I want”, I figured I’d go with the latest (released a while ago) installment of one of my favorite ongoing series’. I like the Invisible Library series overall, although admittedly some installments have been stronger than others. The Dark Archive (#7) adds some good stuff to the overall story, but as a novel itself isn’t the strongest in the series by a good bit. I think the problems for me are that one of […]

A moody Vampire falls in love with an Ice Fey-Valkyrie

Untouchable (Immortals After Dark Book 7) by Kresley Cole

December 22, 2020 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I’m still deep into the Immortals After Dark series. I absolutely breezed through the four books featuring the brothers Wroth. Bless Robert Petkoff and his gripping narration. I really feel like all these characters are distinct when listening. The Wroths are from Eastern Europe. They were turned vampires during a deadly war. Each brother broods in his own way. Untouchable, which is part of the anthology Deep Kiss of Winter, is the seventh book that focuses on Murdoch Wroth. He seems to be the most dependable […]

Keep an Eye on Those Dragons

The Secret Chapter by Genvieve Cogman

April 3, 2020 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

There is a lot to like about the Invisible Library series: interesting premise, a heroine who is not a total stereotype, dragons and Fey, dimensional travel and trouble, adventure and fun, and some humor. The Secret Chapter is book 6 in the series and it has a lot to add to the series. The biggest add to the series is some further world building on the dragon side of things. Previous installments have built up some context for the library and the Fey, and now […]

Fantastic Fantasy Fun

The Mortal Word by Genevieve Cogman

September 14, 2019 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Bingo 24 (I love this) The Invisible Library series is just plain fun fantasy, with a sprinkle of literary humor. The basic premise is an extra-dimensional library where rare books from all over the various worlds and realms are kept. The Librarians who work there often go to great lengths to acquire new titles or versions, including theft and adventure of various sorts. The Library is supposed to keep balance in the universe, especially between the forces of Chaos (the Fey) and natural Order (the […]
