Much More Of Everything Than I Was Expecting

July 11, 2018 by Jen K Leave a Comment

I picked this up after Julia in Austin reviewed and raved about another novel by Alexis Hall and mentioned For Real as a favorite.  This is actually the first M/M romance I’ve read, and it also has a BDSM focus.  I think I assumed the structure would be like most of the romance novels I am familiar with but with the sex having a BDSM spin.  As someone has since pointed out to me, when a novel markets itself as being BDSM or focused on […]

Sweet Dom Wins Me Over

July 26, 2017 by Lane Leave a Comment

This book surprised me. I would not have picked it up on its own (BDSM, contemporary, May/Decemberish)  but it was part of a loose series (Spires) that I had really enjoyed up to this point, and I have started trusting Alexis Hall in general, so I read it and really kind of loved it. Laurie is a sub in the bedroom but out of it he is a successful doctor in his late thirties (I think he is thirty nine but I might not be […]

Geographical oddities and realistic timelines

February 3, 2017 by FyreHaar 1 Comment

The main character in these books is India Burke – the getting it on boss I first ran into in Due South. First off, I love India, because India is a stone cold bitch. Being a bit prickly myself I was so happy that someone thought someone like me deserved the HEA and the romance while still getting to be herself, to be hard and tough. She doesn’t have to take off the black eyeliner as soon as someone wants her.   India is a Sub […]

Better than 50 Shades of Oh Creepy Stalker No

February 25, 2015 by sistercoyote Leave a Comment

Somebody, somewhere, recommended Push the Button as an alternative for those who are interested in reading about 24/7 BDSM lifestyles, rather than 50 Shades of BDSM Doesn’t Work That Way (and also as a book with persons of color as the protagonists). I don’t remember who, now, but I am ever curious so I picked it up. I’m afraid I’m about to damn the book with faint praise: it wasn’t terrible. Certainly it was a quick read, and I liked Star/Nicole and David even if […]

Beyond my horizons

February 24, 2015 by alwaysanswerb Leave a Comment

I initially grabbed Beyond Shame because it was free on Kindle, and then picked up its sequel, Beyond Control, because I was intrigued. Like many series of its ilk, it’s kind of more-of-the-same, kind of not, and YMMV on how much you enjoy each individual book based on how much you like the lead couple. The series is fairly hardcore erotic romance, and it’s definitely out of my comfort zone, so it’s kind of hard for me to review it. Public group sex is the […]
