The first couple of poems of Did You Kiss A Cat Today???: Poems for Children by Diane Stevenson, Geri Lipschultz and James Berger were odd. I felt they were more adult and darker than I think would be appropriate for children. Then, more poems came and more of those were for children. But once again, darker and more adult poems came about. 
There was realism, nonsense, and other stuff. And I say stuff as sometimes I understood the theme of things, sometimes I did not. There is no real rhyme or reason to things. And most poems are not stereotypical children reads as there is no rhyme, or other aspects of poetry for young readers. Many seem to be for pre-teens and older. Did I like it? Sometimes. The illustrations were both fun, slightly different and off-putting. This poetry book isn’t for everyone. Know your reader and/or listener as this book is not your grandparents poetry book. It is modern, unusual and clever.
One piece of things I did enjoy was that each of the authors switched up who gets a poem. You’ll have a poem (perhaps on a common theme, or something all together new) and it is contributed to Geri, next Diane, Geri again, a few by James and so forth. Read via an online reader, though the book is currently available, I think I might find a finished copy so I can take time to explore all aspects of the book. This will also help me determine an age group by the size/look of the physical finished piece.
