I remember seeing this a few years ago when it came out and thinking it sounded interesting but being on the fence about whether to read it. It was on sale recently so I immediately picked it up.
While this is horror, it’s more on the eery/creepy side of the genre than incredibly scary. The Hollow sisters disappeared ten years ago for 30 days, but didn’t remember anything about where they had been or what had happened when they returned. Since then, there have been oddities about them, things that don’t quite fit but Iris has done her best to fit in as a normal girl while her older sisters took a different approach, choosing to stand out in their own ways. Grey, the eldest, left home at 17 and is now a famous model/designer after a huge falling out with their mother. Viv followed her out the door shortly after for the life of a punk rock musician.
Viv is back in town for a gig with her band, and usually this is when the sisters would reunite but it quickly becomes clear that Grey is missing. As Viv and Iris try to track down their sister, they realize it connects back to what happened a decade before, that Grey might remember more than she claimed, and the search for Grey might also bring other secrets into the harsh day of light.
I thought this was very tightly plotted and intriguing read that slowly builds and reveals more. She also wraps up everything for the storyline though I also would have loved to know more about other parts though the novel clearly shows those aren’t exactly the point.
