And here we go again with Freida! I must’ve been on a rampage in July. I feel like I put a whole bunch of the same kind of books on hold, and then they all come available at once!
This book is about Brooke Sullivan, who is a single mom and a nurse just starting a new job at a men’s maximum security prison. She’s not very good at not telling the inmates her personal business. Oh and the man who nearly killed her a decade ago and is the father of her son is at the prison. !!
I think Brooke had to move back home after her parents died, or she needed to after she lost her job? I can’t remember, but she’s living in her dead parent’s home with her son, and working at the local prison. Her and her son seem likeable, but she’s just super not great at following rules to keep her safe at the prison. She does seem to genuinely care about people though and want the prisoners to be taken care of medically.
We go back and forth about who actually tried to kill her a decade ago, and of course she has to patch up her ex at prison. He tries to convince her he never tried to kill her. We also go back and forth in time between the present and the past where someone tried to kill her and succeeded in killing some of her friends.
I do remember liking this book, or at least being entertained by it! I’m going with 3.5 stars.
